Due to LucidLink’s zero-knowledge security model, we cannot reset your password for you. To regain access if you’ve forgotten your password, you must use a backup code that you previously generated yourself. This article explains how to use it to reset your password.
Reset your password with a backup code
- From the web or desktop app, click Having trouble logging in? on the login page.
- Select I have a problem with my password and click Continue.
- Enter the email address associated with your LucidLink account and click Continue.
- If an account with this email exists, you'll receive a verification code via email. Enter this code to verify your identity.
- Enter the backup code you previously generated.
- Type your new password and click Continue to complete the process.
Your backup code remains valid until you remove it and can be used to reset your password multiple times. To invalidate it, remove the current code and generate a new one.
Things to consider
To avoid losing access to your LucidLink account:
- Generate a backup code immediately after creating your account
- Use a password manager to store your password and backup code
If you can't remember where you saved your backup code, try searching for the following file in your "Downloads" folder: backup-code.txt
Please note that this is the default name and location, and it might be different on your computer.
