Introduction to Snapshots
The Snapshots feature allows you to capture and preserve the state of the files in your filespace at a specific time. This functionality is beneficial for recovering data from earlier versions, restoring accidentally deleted files, or auditing changes over time.
Snapshots are automatically enabled for each filespace. You can control the snapshots creation by changing the snapshot scheduling.
In this article, we will focus on accessing snapshots and familiarize you with the process of managing your snapshots, mounting, and accessing their data.
Accessing data contained in snapshots
All snapshots can be activated via the LucidLink desktop application dashboard. Snapshots are read-only, you can simply copy any required data out of a certain snapshot to your active Filespace.
To access the data contained within snapshots, you need to take the following steps:
- Open the LucidLink Desktop app and locate the filespace which snapshots you’d like to access
- In the menu underneath the filespace, click on “Snapshots”
- This will take you to the “Snapshots” page where you can see a list of all the active snapshots for this filespace.
- To access the actual data in the snapshots, you need to click on “Load snapshots”. This will add the snapshots to your local file system.
- Once you’ve finished your work with the snapshots, you can click “Unload” to remove them.
Once you've activated your snapshots, you will note an additional drive that contains all your available snapshots.
