Every workspace is billed separately

You can create multiple workspaces per account (in other words, per email address you signed up with). You will receive a separate invoice for every workspace you're the owner of.

  • If you have multiple workspaces, you'll be billed based on the members and storage in each (on Starter and Business plans).
  • Even if the same members are part of multiple workspaces, you will be billed for them individually in each workspace.

Every workspace has a separate billing period

  • If you are on a monthly subscription, your billing period is defined as the Current billing period in the Billing and invoices page. You will receive a new invoice at the beginning of each billing period.
  • If you are on an annual subscription, the Contract period refers to the duration of your annual commitment. While your overall commitment spans the year, your usage is monitored on a monthly basis, also indicated as the Current billing period in the Billing and invoices page. If there is any overage usage, you will receive an invoice at the beginning of each billing period, which will include any true-up charges.

You’re billed based on members and storage

LucidLink’s billing is based on a per-member charge. Depending on your plan, each member in your workspace adds storage to a shared pool—100GB per member on the Starter plan and 500GB per member on the Business plan. As long as your average storage use stays within this pooled amount, there’s no extra cost. However, if your average used storage exceeds the included with members storage, additional storage charges will apply.

Our billing model is structured around eight key concepts that determine your costs. For members, the important concepts are current members, prepaid members, peak members, and true-up members. For storage, they are current storage, used storage, included storage, and true-up storage. You can find the value of each of these for your workspace on the Billing and invoices page.

  • The current members count reflects the number of members in your workspace at this moment.

If you’re on a monthly subscription, this count will also determine the number of members you prepay for at the start of your next billing period.

  • If you’re on a monthly subscription, prepaid members reflects the number of members you prepaid for at the beginning of the current billing period. This number if determined by the current amount of members at the beginning of your billing period.

On an annual subscription, it indicates the number of members you committed to for the year.

  • Peak members represents the highest number of members your workspace reached during the current billing period.

If the peak exceeds the number of prepaid members, you’ll be charged a true-up for the additional members in your next invoice.

Because we charge based on peak member count, if you remove a member and add a new one within the same billing period, you won’t be charged twice. The new member fills the existing prepaid seat, so you can adjust your team without incurring extra charges.

  • True-up members are the additional members added to your workspace during the current billing period, beyond the prepaid members.

You will be billed for these extra members as part of a true-up charge at the beginning of your next billing period.

  • Current storage shows the amount you're using across your filespaces right now.

  • The included storage is the amount of storage allocated based on the number of members in your workspace, with each member adding 100GB or 500GB to a shared storage space, depending on your plan.

This allocation is calculated using the peak member count during the current billing period.

  • Used storage represents the average amount of storage utilized across your filespaces during the current billing period.

If this amount exceeds the storage included with your members, you’ll incur a true-up charge for the additional storage in your next invoice.

Used storage is rounded up to the nearest 100GB.

  • True-up storage represents the additional storage used beyond the included with members storage.

The true-up is calculated by deducting the included storage from the used storage. You will be charged for this additional storage as part of a true-up charge at the beginning of your next billing period.
