This article highlights the key features of the LucidLink Android app, available on the Google Play Store.
Workspaces and filespaces
All workspaces and filespaces accessible to a user are displayed in the initial workspace and filespace section of the app. However, please note the following exceptions:
- Workspaces with pending invitations will not appear until the invite is accepted.
- Some workspaces may be restricted from mobile access, meaning they will be visible in the desktop app but not in the mobile app.
- LucidLink Classic filespaces are not supported in the Android app, and logging in with a LucidLink Classic account is not possible.
Connecting to a filespace
Clicking on a filespace immediately establishes a connection, allowing users to browse the folders and files it contains.
When logging in for the first time, no filespaces are connected until one is selected.
Once a filespace is connected, it remains active until:
- The application is stopped.
- A different filespace is selected.
Since the LucidLink app supports active connections to only one filespace at a time, clicking on a new filespace will automatically disconnect the previously connected one.
The LucidLink foreground notification
To function properly without being unexpectedly stopped by the Android system, the LucidLink app requires an active notification in the notifications bar. This ensures the app can continue running in the background.
The "Lucid filespaces are syncing" notification appears only when a filespace is connected. It enables the app to sync metadata from the connected filespace even while running in the background.
The filespace will automatically disconnect, the app will stop, and the notification will disappear under the following conditions:
- The app is in the background and remains unopened for more than 5 minutes.
- The app is swiped closed, with a 30-second delay before stopping.
These timers only start once all uploads and downloads are complete.
Force-stopping the app, especially during uploads or downloads, is not recommended, as it can cause cache corruption.
To ensure uninterrupted operation, we recommend enabling notifications for the LucidLink Android app.
Caching
The LucidLink app has a pre-determined cache size of 5GB and will allow for caching of data up to this limit. The cache is used to store data blocks that have recently been viewed/streamed in order to give quick access to them in case they are needed again. All cache is cleared when the app is uninstalled.
File Organization
File and Folder Actions
It's possible to create new folders in the LucidLink Android app using the plus button at the bottom right corner of the screen.
Currently, the app support singular selection and deletion of both files and folders. Renaming is also possible for any file and folder via the context menu.
Sorting
For easier navigation, we have enabled sortation by Name, Size, Type, and Date. Sortation is applied globally and once selected, the app will sort each new filespace/folder opened accordingly.
The app is force-stopped only when the option is selected from the System App Info screen.
