Key pair generation

IBM Cloud provides S3 Compatible Storage access key and secret key via HMAC credentials. To obtain your authentication keys please login to your account, navigate to Infrastructure, Storage, Object Storage. Then select an existing Instance or Create an instance.

Select the Standard plan and choose a Service name, then choose Create.

Once the resource is created, select it and go to Service credentials and select New Credential.

In the dialog, select a Name, you will require the Manager role. Check the option to Include HMAC Credential, and click Add.

Once your credentials are created, you can view the credentials by clicking on the arrow to expand. You will require the access_key_id and secret_access_key in the cos_hmac_keys section to create your Filespace:

In order to initialize your Filespace you will need to choose a suitable region endpoint to host your data. Go to the Endpoints menu, choose Regional in the Select resiliency and choose your desired region in Select location.

Filespace creation

Please login to our Web App or through the desktop application. Click on "Create Filespace":

Enter the name of your Filespace:

Select "Your own storage" and choose IBM:

Select the cloud storage provider region. If you have created a bucket, you can enter the name of the bucket. Otherwise, LucidLink automatically creates a bucket based on a globally unique identifier if no bucket name is provided.

Enter the Access Key and Secret Key generated (see the Key Pair Generation section)

Finally, once you have confirmed all the settings are correct, you can create your Filespace.
