Release notes for version 3.3 build 6885

New features

Custom snapshot schedules

Custom snapshot scheduling is now available in both the LucidLink desktop client and the LucidLink web application. Create automatic snapshots with custom intervals and retention periods using the new scheduler interface.

  • To access: For the filespace in question, choose Snapshots from the filespace menu, then choose Schedules, then "Create schedule."
  • Available intervals for a custom snapshot: Minutes, Hours, Days, Weeks, Months, and Years.
  • Permissions required: Owners and Administrators can create custom schedules; a standard user cannot create custom schedules.
  • Available platforms: Custom snapshot schedules are available on the LucidLink desktop client (on macOS, Windows, and Linux), and on the LucidLink web application.

Filespace rename

Owners and administrators can now rename filespaces from both the LucidLink desktop client and the LucidLink web application.

  • To access: For the filespace in question, choose Filespace settings, click on the General tab, then click on the pencil icon within the filespace name field.
  • Permissions required: Owners and Administrators can change the name of a filespace; a standard user cannot.
  • Available platforms: Changing the filespace name can be done on the LucidLink desktop client (on macOS, Windows, and Linux), and within the LucidLink web application.

Please note: If the Global default mount point has not been modified, renaming a filespace will change the default mount point for all members. To ensure all users maintain the same mount point independently of a change to the filespace name, configure specific mount points for each operating system in Global Settings before renaming.

Proxy support

The LucidLink service now automatically detects network proxy settings defined at the operating system level and will use these settings as a fallback when direct connectivity fails.

  • Note: To configure network proxy settings within our CLI (command line interface), please see our Proxy Setup Guide

Windows service support

For Windows operating systems, LucidLink can now run as a Windows service in the background for your chosen filespace. This allows LucidLink to run on "headless" workstations and servers, often found in enterprise workflows that distribute tasks to potentially hundreds of end-points. The LucidLink Windows service also ensures that your filespace auto-reconnects after a reboot, even on a headless system.

When deploying the LucidLink Windows service, please consider the following key points:

  • Only one LucidLink service instance can run per host.
  • Other services may be needed in conjunction with the LucidLink Windows service to function properly (for example, reconnecting a filespace automatically requires an active internet connection).
  • The LucidLink Windows service can be managed through the Windows Service Manager.
  • By design, there is no available LucidLink user interface when utilizing the LucidLink Windows service. Please use the lucid help service for help within the command line interface (CLI).
  • Running the LucidLink Windows service requires Administrator privileges on the host system.

For complete setup instructions, see our Windows Service Guide.

Transfer Ownership

Customers who are account owners can now transfer ownership of their LucidLink workspace to another person or organization. Customers who need this should reach out to their Customer Success representative or create a LucidLink support ticket to initiate this process.

Improvements

Redesigned members page

The Members tab has been reorganized and redesigned for a simpler and more streamlined experience. The Members tab can be found within the LucidLink workspace dashboard in both the LucidLink desktop client and the LucidLink web application.

Key benefits:

  • User interface improvement: The Members tab is now split into two separate tabs: active members (LucidLink user accounts that have accepted an invite to a given LucidLink workspace) and pending members (LucidLink user accounts that have not yet accepted a pending invitation).
  • New search functionality: The magnifying glass icon allows you to find a specific user by name.
  • Enhanced filtering: You can now filter your list of members by role (Owner, Administrator, or Standard user).
