Troubleshooting LucidLink macOS Privacy & Security Permissions

  • Updated

Overview

When mounting a LucidLink filespace for the first time on macOS, you may be prompted to allow access to Network Volumes. This allows our application to create the mount point for your filespace. If you accidentally click away from this prompt or accidentally deny it, it isn't obvious how to enable or reset the permission.

The issue may appear that you simply cannot connect to the filespace, with no error messages. When you click Connect, it will load for a while and simply return to the Disconnected state.

Solution (GUI)

  1. Quit the LucidLink application if it's open.
  2. Open the macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Files & Folders.
  3. You should see the LucidLink application listed here.
  4. Click the drop-down and toggle "Network Volumes".

  5. When prompted, enter your password and click "Quit & Reopen".

  6. The LucidLink application will automatically reopen.
  7. You can now mount your filespace.

If the GUI solution does not work, you can try the CLI method below. It simply resets all macOS system permissions requests from the LucidLink application.

Solution (CLI)

  1. Quit the LucidLink application if it's open.
  2. Open the macOS Terminal application.
  3. Run the following command: tccutil reset All com.lucidlink.app
  4. Open the LucidLink application.
  5. Mount your filespace.
  6. If prompted to allow access to "Network Volumes", click Allow.
