LucidLink provides visual overlay icons in both macOS Finder and Windows Explorer to help you quickly understand the status of your files and folders. These small icons appear on top of your files and folders to indicate various states and activities.
Remote Upload Indicators
- Blue circle - Indicates that another user on your team is currently uploading or modifying a file
- Orange circle - Called the "stuck state indicator," appears when an upload got interrupted (usually when a user disconnects before upload completion)
Local Upload Indicator
- Shows when you are uploading files to the cloud (appears as an up-arrow overlay icon)
Pin Status Icons
Icons indicating whether files/folders are pinned or currently being pinned:
Blue circle with a down-arrow (Pinning in Progress) - This icon appears when files or folders are actively being downloaded and pinned to your local cache. It indicates that LucidLink is currently retrieving data from the cloud to make it available locally.
Green Pin (Successfully Pinned) - This icon shows that all data for the file or folder has been successfully downloaded and is now stored locally in your cache.
Orange Pin (Pinning Failed/Quota Reached) - This icon indicates there was a problem completing the pinning process. This typically occurs when your cache reaches its limit (80% of the configured cache size) and there isn't enough space to download additional data.

Restricted-view icon
- Black circle with an empty center - Indicates that a folder has restricted access due to fine-grained permissions - you can see the folder as part of a path to accessible content, but cannot modify or fully access the folder itself.
LucidLink Connect icon
- Purple circle with a white link symbol – Indicates a LucidLink Connect entry within your filespace – Distinguishes third-party or externally linked data from LucidLink-native entries.
