Overview
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a security process that requires two different forms of identification to access your account. By enabling Two-Factor Authentication, you add a vital layer of protection to your account, ensuring that only you can access your workspaces, even if your password is compromised.
Administrators can set up 2FA for their own individual user account, as well as enforce 2FA workspace-wide for all members.
How to Configure 2FA for Your Account
To configure your account to use two factor authentication,
Follow these steps to secure your account:
Access Account Settings: Go to your initials menu located in the top-right corner of LucidLink, then click My Account.
Initiate Authenticator Setup: Scroll down and click Set up authenticator app.
Open Authenticator App: Open a supported authenticator app on your mobile device (such as Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, or Okta Verify).
Scan QR Code: Tap the plus button (+) within your authenticator app to add a new account, then scan the QR code displayed in LucidLink.
Verify Connection: Enter the 6-digit code generated by your authenticator app into LucidLink.
Save Your Backup Code: If you haven't generated one prior, you will be given a unique backup code.
⚠️ Download or copy this code and store it in a secure location. This backup code is your only way back into your account if you lose your mobile device.Existing sessions: Any existing login sessions that were authenticated prior to enabling 2FA, may be terminated after 2FA is enabled. You must reauthenticate these sessions and provide the 2FA code.
You are all set! Future logins will require your email, password, and the rolling 6-digit code from your authenticator app.
Enforcing 2FA Across the Workspace
Workspace owners and admins can mandate 2FA for all password-based members directly from the workspace menu.
Steps to Configure Workspace Enforcement:
Access Security Settings: Go to the three-dot menu (...) located next to your workspace name and select Two-Factor Authentication.
Select Enforcement Mode: Choose your preferred enforcement level:
Optional (Default): Workspace members can choose individually whether or not to enable 2FA on their account.
Require on next login: Current user sessions remain active, but any new login attempt will prompt the user to configure 2FA before accessing the workspace.
Enforce immediately: Active user sessions are immediately terminated, and all members must set up 2FA before they can reconnect to the workspace.
Save Configuration: Save your selection.
System Requirements & Compatibility
To ensure a smooth login experience, you must use LucidLink version 3.7.8169 or higher. Using older versions of the desktop client can result in login failures when 2FA is active.
