Hard Links

Hard Links are now available for all LucidLink platforms (Desktop, Web, Mobile) on filespace format 3.8 and greater starting with this release.

Hard linking allows for the creation of multiple references to the same underlying data within the filesystem without duplicating that data. Changes to one file affect all hard-linked entries, and the underlying data will not be deleted until all references to that entry are deleted.

Links will be readable and function appropriately as hard links on all supported platforms, but driver-native link generation is only supported on Linux at release (i.e. ‘ln’ command). Support for driver-native linking on other platforms as well as a cross-platform API for link creation will follow in future releases.
