Symptom:
When deploying LucidLink on Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2012 (NT 6.1 and 6.2) data may not appear to be uploading and filespace data may not be accessible. Metadata coordination operates normally, and files are visible but inaccessible.
This issue does not apply to Windows Server 2012 R2 (NT 6.3) or higher.
Solution:
Your object storage provider has implemented Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.1 or greater whereas the default SSL protocol enabled on Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R8 or Windows Server 2012 is TLS 1.0
- Ensure the machine is updated to the latest suggested Windows updates.
- Apply the Easy Fix (attached) contained within Microsoft KB https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/3140245/update-to-enable-tls-1-1-and-tls-1-2-as-default-secure-protocols-in-wi.
This wizard may be in English only. However, the automatic fix also works for other language versions of Windows.
Reason:
As TLS 1.0 is no longer considered "secure" many object storage providers have made the switch to only support TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 connections.
The hotfix allows applications to specify which default SSL protocols should be used.
